Applying foam board insulation to car port ceiling

Main bedroom in house is over the carport and got extremely cold last winter.
Was advised foam boarding the external ceiling of car port would help a bit.

What thickness of foam board do people advise getting?
    for example: http://www.goodwins.ie/c-1669-rigid-foam-insulation-sheets.aspx

Also, what type of hooks/rawplugs/screws would be best to fix them to the wood ceiling?

    cheers

Insulation is a specialist question, perhaps phone a few BER assessors and ask their advice. You don't want insulation that holds moisture and damp so professor advice is needed.

Forget your foamboard. You'll only get an R10 rating max. Can you not get rolls with an R30 rating for the same price?
