    Hi.

    I have my B, C and D1 full licences.

I want to get an Artic licence and just found out that because I got my C full licence on the 17/9/09 I can automatically apply for the CE Provisional licence without having to do a theory test.

I do not have any CPC done as I work for the Emergency Services and am exempt from this so where do I stand if I want to drive an Artic part time or full time even?

    Many thanks in advance!!

If you are working part-time or full time for reward .i.e Salary then you have to do the CPC.

True, however, I'll give this example; if you own a plumbing company and you own a small truck and have to drive it to your supplier to collect materials for a job then you don't need CPC. If you are a driver that works for a plumbing supply company as a delivery driver then you will need CPC. Most people don't know there is a distinction.

You might need the other CPC then

If you take up work as an artic driver in the future for hire or reward you will need the CPC.
If it relates to ES work or work were you are not a professional driver (i.e. not for hire or reward) then you won't need a CPC

    Correct. No CPC required if:

    - Private use only (e.g. why I did my C+E)
    - Moving your own goods / tools
    - Emergency / Volunteer driving

I drive for the back up emergency services as well holding a full artic licence,From what I was told a person applying for a provisional licence and who wants to be exempt from the CPC must get written approval from the organization they drive from.

You've been misinformed. I can't say what the rules were in the past but only if you're under 21 looking for C/CE or under 24 looking for D/DE will you be obliged to take CPC stages 1&2 prior to applying for a permit. If you're over those age limits then anyone can apply for the permit as a starting point. As above, you're not obliged to take CPC if you're not a 'professional driver'.

Me misinformed :o all I told the OP was that even though they have a C/D licence all ready if they wanted to get the artic licence without doing the CPC,They would need to get a letter from the organisation they are working for.
I never mentioned anything about the new age limits trust me when it comes to the transportation regs.
I know them inside out and having worked in the industry for 20 years in various roles.

Well, actually what you said was...

    and what I said was...

I just wanted to make it clear that the NDLS will not request or expect a letter from anybody in order to obtain a permit.

Maybe I have credentials too :)
