Backboiler not heating rads

    Hey,

I've got a back boiler in my sitting room, behind the stove that is supposed to heat the rads also. But the upstairs rads only heat about half way up. I've tried bleeding them but nothing happens. They might hiss for a second but no water comes out at all. It there a way of topping up the water pressure with these? I can't find a valve to let water in to the system. I'm in a rented house so before I call the land lord might anyone know where the valve is to top up the water system. I can access the pump behind the fire place and there is a tap in there. No idea what that's for but no sign of an inlet valve, and also when the heat comes on it gurgles for a bit like there isn't enough water in the system. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks

you wont have a valve to top up the system it should be topped up by a holding tank in your attic or loft space

in this area you will most likely find two tanks the smaller one is for your heating system make sure this has water in it if not the ballcock may be stuck
