Does anyone know the story with insuring a small van privatelt (eg Citroen Berlingo). I've been ringing companies all day and none of them will insure me unless it's commercially! I can tax it privately but not insure! Does this sound right or would anybody know who I might get insurance through?

Insurance companies in general hate anything that deviates from the norm and hate covering things not as intended.. Many view vans as commercial vehicles and as such will only insure them commercially. The fact that you can tax it privately means nothing to insurance, it just means they're happy to take your money..

Try Insuremyvan.ie. got mine through them..the policy is with arg underwriting.

Have it taxed privately which they didnt care about. Policy says it insured as private individual. Premium was around 420 per year I think

Insure my van insisted that I had a current DOE and Comercial Motor Tax to insure my crew cab. They told me if its taxed privately OR has an NCT then it needs to be insured privately!

Moot told the same answer by various companies when I was renewing in May.
I'm with insure my van through AXA.
