Notice period - less than 13 weeks

    SIL started a new job, but became aware of some issues that she doesn't agree with (employees being paid cash off the books) plus the owner is very unpleasant. She handed in her notice on Thursday, giving a week even though there is no notice period as she has been there only 11 weeks.
    She arrived into work yesterday to find her various pins, codes and logins all disabled, but she was told to remain onsite. Today the atmosphere is even more unpleasant, and she wishes she hadn't given any notice at all. Does she still need to work until Thursday?

    Contractually, probably. But really, what's the worse that would happen if she didn't?

    TBH she should just walk now.. Chances of her using them as a reference is slim and they will give a poor one now no matter..

    Whatever her contract says is her notice period, is what she has to work. Realistically if she walks now, they won't do much. If they withold owed wages, she can get in touch with workplacerelations.ie

    If they ask her to leave early, they must pay her her contracted notice period, as garden leave.
