Looks decent alright, the CPU gets a pretty good score on CPUBenchmark and it's got decent RAM and HD space.

I'm on the lookout for new one myself, but it might a bit big for me, looking for an 11" screen.

Also, very strange to see a DVD drive on a laptop these days, gives it a bit of olde worlde antiquey feel!

I have a G50-70 which I bought this time last year for approx. the same price but came with a i5 processor, 500Gb HDD and no DVD drive.

Apart from the price there is little to recommend about it unfortunately.

The build quality is very basic, it uses pretty poor quality plastics in the case, so pressing on it flexes and twists.

This is particularly so with the keyboard which feels very spongy. It's also the case that often pressing on the space bar doesn't register.

The screen is glossy and shows up reflections badly so hard to read in bright light or with windows or bright lights behind you. It's also developed a bright spot, about the size of a mouse pointer arrow, recently which is very irritating.

The performance of the built in wifi card isn't great and it's an odd half sized card which is difficult to find a replacement for. Lenovo have a "white list" of cards making find a replacement even more difficult. In the end I just got a mini USB wifi dongle.

Battery life is meh, but I only ever use the laptop at home these days so it isn't such an issue for me.

    have a similar model,
    Build quality is ****e

Screws fell out of it and the case is falling off (after i put in new screws(correct size)), used it only 5 days a week,
always in a proper case when traveling.
    Wouldnt buy another one

    do-more really sums it up.

I have a G50 as well. Build quality is terrible. Sharp plastic edges, it hurts my hands when I used this laptop. Very poor build and design. The track pad is aligned left and my palm keeps touching it as I use the keyboard. I will never buy lenovo again

I don't think its fair to judge an entire company on one low BUDGET (read: plenty of compromises made to reach that price point to eventually sell to you, the end user) laptop.

I know Lenovo has some shady business practices, but they make undoubtedly excellent machines if you spend a bit more.

Just a warning, there have been two security stories involving lenovo laptops this year
in august as story about how even with a harddisk wipe the bios would change windows system settings to point user back to lenovo updater software
needs a bios update to fix
    http://thenextweb.com/insider/2015/08/12/lenovo-used-a-hidden-windows-feature-to-ensure-its-software-could-not-be-deleted/

and in February big security alert about the superfish software which allowed adware company to scan secure ssl/https traffic and insert ads on https webpages but this also broke ssl/https encryption and allowed eavesdropping on secure webpages by malware

    Unlikely.

Powercity selling identical model to Amazons offering for €599, while PCW have it (in red) for €469.

€350 was a good price. Bought 1 and its a decent machine, particularly at the original price-point. Not attractive now though.
