    I'm looking for a saw to fell large ash and oak, stihl or husky professional quailty, large bar around 24-30 inch new or second hand I'm located in Donegal. Thanks.

    brand new stihl 441 or 461 for between €1,000-€1,100. hard not to go for the 461 at this price.

    Solo 681, German built its a better saw than the Stilh or Huski. Most of the Axe men are using them

    Unless the trees are huge, I think anything more than a 20" bar is overkill.
    A 20" bar will cut a trunk of 48" diameter in the right hands.
    Besides the cost of a big saw and the maintenance of same, the longer the bar, the more likely it is to 'kickback'
    If you are buying a new saw, for Ash or Oak,I can't see the need for a 30" bar!

    Better than what Stihl or Husqvarna?

    And in case you didn't know, if you buy a Stihl pro saw here, it'll be German made.

    While the Husqvarna will be made in Sweden.
