    Hi

Just wondering would anyone know the best place for cheap car insurance for a female first time driver, I'm 26 and on my first provisional licence. Haven't bought a car as of yet. Just want to get an idea of how much insurance might be.

    I'm looking at a 2003 peugot 206 5 door.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I know nothing about cars, insurance, etc.

Best bet is to call around all the insurers as it can vary a lot, give some of the brokers a try too such as first Ireland. Some insurers aren't quoting on cars over 10 years old too. Depending on your location, occupation, car value and age the price could be anything, it'd be north of €1000 though.

So do you need to buy a car less then ten years old to have cheaper car insurance?

    Thanks

Not necessarily no, but it can help.

The point is: no one call tell you who will be cheapest for you due to the variety of circumstances which impact a quote. You need to do legwork: call around companies, brokers etc and find out which can give you the best price.

Both of my kids(22 & 24), are with First Ireland. They came in quite a bit lower than some others were quoting. They also let you pay in monthly instalments, and will lower your repayments during the year if you pass your test.

    Best of luck.

Important to note that first ireland are a broker, and not an insurance company. They merely take your details and provide the cheapest quote from what ever providers they do business with. Their insurance disk most likely is with one of the big name insurers AIG, Allianz, etc etc

Don't necessarily go for cheapest quote. Check out the benefits and double check the policy when it arrives. Got a great deal through a third party company here.
Sadly had a bang and they have been a nightmare to deal with. None of the things we were told were in the policy were there when needed so just be careful. courtesy car for repairs, towing fees etc. all things pretty standard on fully comp policies were additional extras and we didn't know. Just took it for granted and some we were toild we had as standard. Never again.
I know insurance is expensive but just be very careful if cheap is your only requirement. Paying quite dearly for a cheap quote here at the moment and think will never get away from them to a proper policy quick enough. Buy cheap buy twice in our case.

Was your policy fully comp or third party only?

If it was third party then yeah you're not entitled to any of what you've mentioned, it only covers the other parties costs.

    no it was fully comp
I always assumed the things i mentioned were standard with that kind of policy, apparently not. Always get a hard copy of the policy before agreeing and if they only have the policy available to view online run a mile. Learned the hardway here
