Try something from the late, great Keith Erlandson.

Training Spaniels by Joe Irving - old school but all the basics are their and plenty of common sense unlike some other books ive read.

Complete Springer Spaniel Training Series "DVDs" by David Lisett are good as well, aimed a bit at the trialing dog but take from it what you want.

Best of luck it will be worth it.

Hi all. Does anyone know of a good dog trainer that will not rip you off?
I'm in the north east but willing to travel. I have a young springer spaniel.

I had a dog with him about 7 years go. He was there for 5 months at a cost of over 2500 and to be totally honest what I got back was totally not worth the cost. I should of bought exactly what I was looking for. This time around I have another nice wee dog but not that sort of cash to give away.

For that kind of money you could buy a fully trained dog spending that kind of money on a rough shooting dog seems excessive

Honestly I wanted the dog to pretty much trailing standard but what I got was no where near. So this time around I'm stuck in the same situation. I don't have the sort of money to go buy a good dog straight out, but I have a pretty good springer only 12 months old and my options are to 1. Try and seen if I can get him trained? Or 2. Just hold out till I find the money to buy one !
I don't have the time to put into the dog myself. So any help guys ?

30 mins a day? An hour or 2 at the weekend.
I work minimum 70 hour weeks with 4 dogs at home. I make the time as I make the time come November.
For half that fee send your Springer my way for the season.
