I bought a new bedroom set, consisting of two sidetables and a bed. While moving the sidetables I accidentally moved them against the oak floor causing a scratch. I would like to know amy good methods of removing the scratch at the moment I'm thinking of applying wood filler and then sanding it down with 180 grit sandpaper, any other suggestions?

I have been told that rubing walnut on the scratch is very efficient on woods like oak. I haven't tried it yet but was given that advice by a friend when i complained about my dog having damaged the oak floor. I found several sites that explain how to do it (wikihow is one of them i think). As I said, i have no idea if it really works well but, who knows, it might bw worth a try?

Wet a cotton cloth fold in quarter place over scratch then cloth iron on the cloth don't have the iron mad hot keep the cloth wet, you could use one of them spray bottles keep checking it every few seconds. Be careful that the cloth don't dry out or you will burn the floor. And just like magic the scratch will disappear when the scratch has lifted let it dry out you might have to give it a light sanding and maybe refinish. Don't use filler and don't use 180, 320 is what you sand it with after the cloth and iron. What happens is the wet cloth makes steam which expends or swells the fibers of the wood and that's how the scratch lifts i have taken out fairly deep scratches using this method.
