I told our phone service provider 6 years ago that our phone number was to be listed as ex-directory, I have just found out that the 11890 is still listing our number publicly.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Is it a sex chat line?

You should write a stern post about it on boards. That'll teach them.

There are two categories of 'ex-directory' (a) not being listed in the phone book and (b) not listed with directory enquiries.

Thanks Victor, I remember being told at the time that our number would be only available to emergency services eg. Gardai but I did not think our number would be available on the 11850 website.

The problem is that people keep confusing us with another house, we are getting sales cold calls, scam calls etc.

That's not nessecarily a n ex-directory issue - they could be getting yout number from a subscription contract you signed and ticked/didn't the tick the opt-out box.

Also, 11890 get their numbers from Eir/Eircom whatever it's called now, so you need to take it up with them. Otherwise, your number will be added back into their database every time they get an updated phone book.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Withheld numbers are the ones that are displayed to emergency services, not ex-directory numbers. Check the online phonebook and see is it there.

It is not in the Eir phonebook, but it is available through 11890.

Curious. They may be working off an older version then?

We will probably just get rid of the phoneline altogether, I had just wondered if any other people had the same problem.

This is a disgrace, I think the government should step in.
