    Hi all
Just had a friend move my own car and he commented on how heavy the steering was in comparison to his own car

Both cars are Audi a4 mine is a 2009 108km on the clock his own is a 2008 with over 230k on the clock

Have checked level of fluid looks to be the same in both cars

Mine is definitely a lot heavier than his.
If anybody has experience of this please let me know.

    Thanks all

Does the pump making any loud noises when you turn it?

I would take a small sample of the steering fluid and see if its still a nice red colour, you can just dip a paper towel in and see what color its absorbed as, just be careful not to let any debris in. If the fluid is black/brown and smells burnt then I would get it flushed and renewed.

Could also be a slipping belt on the pump

Did these cars come with different options such as "sport steering" etc, heavier steering is associated with more road feel and something many drivers prefer, it may be just specced differently

Not a clue Rex bought the hand second hand as did my friend his car has different engine code to mine his has more HP.

To be honest I'm not overly concerned about it
Have a mechanic looking at it Tuesday so I'll see then.

Have they both the same tyre width? Are tyres on both cars fully inflated?

That's what I'm thinking, tyres need inflating.

The most likely explanation is that his car has the optional Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering while your car doesn't.

    Hahaha "Das audi solidness"

I'm honestly not sure if all salesmen think people are stupid or if the majority of people the salesmen deals with are stupid.

Next they'll be telling people you need to press the brake pedal super hard because the brakes are solid
