Implant surgery - tooth next to it hurts

    Hi,

I had last week implant surgery and now I have noticed that the tooth next where the implant is going is slightly hurting.
And when I tap the tooth it is uncomfortable.
Should I be worried about it?
I go every six months to dental hygienist and have my teeth checked by my dentist and all my x-rays etc are up to date. So I know I should not have any cavities there.
Could this be from the surgery? And if so why should that affect the teeth next to the surgery area?

I have a follow up appointment next week for my dentist where he will check the surgery area, I will of course mention this to him then, but meanwhile should I be overly concerned about this?

No, the placement of an implant as you now know is a surgical procedure which involves preparing the bone to accept the implant. Tenderness in adjacent teeth is not unusual. It is the opposite of having a tooth extracted (tooth out, hole left, sore area -v- hole prepared, tooth in, sore area). Your surgeon will check for swelling/infection, so don't be concerned until there is something to be concerned about. If you have no allergy, just take an anti inflammatory like Buplex, you can buy it over the counter in a pharmacy. Keep the site clean by regular brushing and buy a mouth rinse called corsadyl in the pharmacy.

Thanks for answering. I had a course of antibiotics and the anti-inflammatory tablets which I have taken, also I got the mouth rinse from my dentist, which I have been using religiously.

Wanted to make sure since the weekend is here that it's just a normal tenderness.
    Thanks again.
