If someone was to inherit £100K sterling. What would the most cost effective way of transferring to Irish high street bank into €? Is there a way to get a more preferential exchange rate and reduce bank charges rather than straight exchange?

Online service like transferwise or currency-fair, etc...

Revolut? In theory should work but not sure for such a large amount

Transfer to € and then transfer to bank. Shouldn't be any fees

What protection is there for using services like currency-fair etc?? I look at it like your throwing money into an online abyss and praying the money shows up at the other end. Is the transaction protected in any way?
