seen one of these at local dealer , looked well and nice leather interior. Seems to get ok reviews in uk. Maybe they will have some success with this ? however as with the Korando the price is probably a bit too close to mainstream brands. Are they being priced too high by irish importer or factory ?

It is being priced too high alright a pity as it is a nice car with a very stylish and good quality interior. Have not seen any on the roads yet. If they want it to be a success they are going to have to reduce the price and advertise it more or too a real good offer on it.

In what way was it poor?

It was a navy coloured one and it had terrible orange peel. It was instantly noticable from about ten feet away. I don't recall ever seeing such a poor paint job on a new car. I'm assuming it was factory on a new and unregistered car.

I find bmw paint to be rather odd looking too. Orange peel type effect but still looks factory.

Never noticed that myself. I'm not just saying it because its a Ssangyong either - it was just particularly noticable.

Its particularly noticeable under showroom lights on the BMWs.

Well isnt it very fortunate for BMW that it's not as noticable as that car was in daylight.

There is no excuse for poor paint finish in this day and age. I have seen it said about newer bmws. It was blamed on new painting processes.

Unless you intend driving this car for about 15 years, you might as well get the cash, pile it on the footpath and set light to it.

Even if it turns out to be a reasonable motor, the depreciation on one of these, due to the perception of the brand, right or wrong, will be horrendous.

They'd have been as well off just making a new name up and calling it that. SsangYong just isn't desirable. Everyone remembers their older stuff, and even the new Rexton and Rodius are pretty much the same as they were 10 years ago.

Shape looks like a Suzuki Swift on stilts.

They were supposed to be re branded but when is anyones guess. It is supposed to be so they could enter the American market. Maybe it is taking a little longer than they thought and costing more too.

Above all of the issues with desirability, residual value and reliability - the pricing is all wrong and had been with all of Ssangyong's cars over the last few years.

There is a Tivoli in the Pavillions (or at least there was on Sunday) - the panel gaps are absolutely atrocious, the paint finish is suspect and I would rather get shot in the face than part with my money for one.

Sure, weren't the rebranded as Daewoo back in the day.

If they had any cop on, they would invent a new brand, buy market share and in time their parent company Mahindra will have cars suitable for Europe, they'll have a bit of brand identity.
Sadly the Rexton and Rodius are a waste of time. they shouldn't even be selling them if they want to give the Tivoli any chance.
