This is brilliant news. I never seen the channel before in my life.

It will be a great addition to all who are either Freesat viewers or have the UK Satellite channels combined with Saorview.

    documentary channels are very limited

    http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/pbs-america-to-launch-on-freesat/

29th October 2015 actually is the correct date

yes joinfreesat was correct as its available on my Humax HDR1000S at CH 160 on freesat and able to set recordings from epg such as 'prohibition' next.
its also available on my sky box on sky ch 534 for everyone also to see

So far there's been a few documentaries.

If like me you are tired of the sensationalist blue collar stuff on discovery then it's a very welcome addition.

If you are into war and such stuff there is plenty there ..... but very little for those of us who dislike such programmes.

..... or maybe it is just coincidence that those were on when I accessed it ......

It's all about having another channel with watchable programs.

It's america so yea military is huge part of their culture and lots of wild west stuff too. The one about Panama Canal had a huge death toll :(

But there's also pcoming stuff about Death Valley, Rodeo's ,Gold, Prohibition, Beavers(airplane), Niagra, Angor Wat,Maya, NRA , Easter Island, Alcatraz, and Time Team America

So may be an alternative to National Geographic for those of us who don't subscribe.

PBS also do Nova, which program shares with BBC's Horizon but no sign of it yet.

PBS seem to run weekly 'themes' so you get a lot of similar shows each week. And yes they do show 'Nova' and similar shows on a regular basis.

Anything by Ken Burns is good. Prohibition is a good 3 part doc, its my 2nd favourite channel for docs. bbc4 coming first
