If you have spoken to the Department of Social Protection and have been advised that they have not received your data, please be advised the data transfer from Irish Water to the Department of Social Protection is ongoing and TIN's will be issued after today's deadline. In these cases you will still receive payment of the 2015 grant and will be able to apply beyond today's deadline.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to contact us should you have any other queries.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

This info needs to be disseminated via the media,Twitter etc as it is the first time I have seen this said. This could take a lot of pressure off the call centre and customer service. Is this not common sense?

    Niall,
this does not inspire any confidence. Why have Irish Water not transfered my data, they have it for months?
How can I be 100% sure that I will receive the letter?
Can you confirm that I will receive the letter and confirm that I will receive the grant.

    Regards

Hi, in similar situation. My wife registered with Irish Water before 30 June. Not a customer as she has her own well & septic tank. Tried to claim water grant but never received letter from Irish Water. Phoned Dept of Social Protection and they can't help without the Irish water details. As we are separated, she is in family home.

In my own case, I'm living in apartment. I've registered and received the bills which I haven't paid. I know that I will pay but not until the percentage paying is much higher. (just fed up of being one of the ones who pays everything while others get away) As I haven't paid, I don't feel entitled to claim water grant but if I don't claim by this evening, I won't get the chance again.

It is a water conservation grant you don't even need to be a customer of irish water to get it let alone pay a bill.

As I understand it, they insist that you have registered (before the deadline of 30/06/15) in order to claim the Water Conservation grant.

I registered with Irish Water after 30th June I have received no letter from DSP. I would have thought that Irish Water should be passing details of all customers to DSP (as those not entitled to grant this year will be entitled next year)

    My questions are-

Should I have received a letter from DSP with a TIN?
How long does it take for Irish Water to pass details to TIN?
Has there been any extension in the deadline for registering your property with Irish Water to avail of grant this year? I see the deadline for apllication has been received.

    Thank you

There needs to be some answers to this :
Why is the data still being sent from Irish Water to DSP?  The plan was that after June 30th - all the data for the people who had registered with IW was sent  to DSP (Dept Social Protection)  . They then used this data to send out letters inviting people to claim the grant.

If data is still being sent - does that mean the previous set of data was incomplete?
How can people apply for the grant if DSP haven't been told by IW that they have registered?
How many people that had registered by June 30th with IW have not had their details sent to the DSP by IW.
Is the "missing" data being sent in one file in one go  - if so when will all the data have been sent so people can know when to expect letters from DSP?
Are ministers aware of this issue? If not why not?

Irish Water invited both customers and non-customers to register their details with Irish Water by June 30th in order to be eligible to apply for this years grant.

As you have registered your details after this deadline you would not be eligible to apply for this years grant and would not receive a letter containing a TIN. However, you will be eligible to apply for future grants. Irish Water are continuing to submit data for those eligible to apply for this years grant to the Department of Social Protection.

There has been no extension to the deadline for registering your property with Irish Water in order to avail of this years grant. However, the deadline for individuals eligible to apply for this years grant has been extended to the 22nd October.

I hope you find this information helpful. For more information on the Water Conservation Grant, please click here.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

    Hi Amy,
I received your Pm telling me that you are looking into the situation. You have also told me that the deadline has been extended to 22/10/15.
Cam you clarify when I can expect a confirmation that my info has been sent to Dsp.
Also can you clarify that I do need a Tin to apply for the grant as I have read other posts saying that it is not a requirement?

As I mentioned in a separate thread I sent a hard copy application form in to Irish Water back in 2014 to register with them. I could not apply online as my home was a new build and so I did not have a pin. I am part of a group water scheme and have a septic tank so at the minute I am not a customer of Irish Water.
I did not receive a letter from DSP and so contacted Irish Water 3 weeks ago. They had no record of my details on their computer. I have lodged a complaint that I sent in my application pack and they have lost it. I would not have registered the application pack envelope as it was freepost to Cork.
A work colleague did say that Irish Water had issues scanning documents and hence got my colleague's friend's company to do some work for them.
Maybe Irish Water have people like me, for whom they appear to have lost application forms on, and which only has come to light due to the water grant deadline.
I don't think Irish Water would publicly admit to losing a lot of people's details, if they have.

I rang up Irish Water this evening and was told that my case is still being reviewed. They have found a record of me ringing Irish Water in 2014, so that may be used to prove that I attempted to register with them.
The Irish Water worker told me that even though the deadline to apply for the grant is 22nd October 2015, depending on how my case goes, I could still get the grant after the 22nd.
What I took from the call is, if Irish Water is investigating your case and it is them who are holding up the process and may be at fault, then the 22nd October 2015 is not the be all and end all with regards grant applications.

May be related to the staff at the call center in Cork perhaps -an ex employee told me members of the public who rang irish water were made contact dept of welfare and when you rang the welfare dept they told you contact irish water.

Hi Amy unfortunately the problem has been the staff at irish water who have let me down as a customer who paid the bill but got no grant I have been told the employees of irish water are not capable of sending the correct information to the department issuing the grant so I have to go over your position to get my grant from another source.

    Thanks for replying anyway.
