Amazon shipping times this year

Last year when ordering off Amazon you could typically expect delivery the following week (for free delivery).

I made an order yesterday (7th October) and delivery is now expected on 28th October!

I've made several orders this year and all were similarly extended (all items from Amazon EU Sarl).

Is this a conscious decision in order to direct people to use Amazon Prime, or paid delivery? Was there anything published about this?

If you're getting a long delivery date on the order,

Odds are you either ordered from a marketplace seller or you've ordered an item that isn't in stock. free delivery won't push a delivery back that far in any of my experiences...unless the item is out of stock.

If you've ordered a number of items its worth noting that if one of them is out of stock it can delay them all,

It says they are all in stock.

I wonder can they edit an order that hasn't yet been charged and perhaps remove the offending item?

I ordered off them this week and the item has a 2 week delivery window and its fulfilled by Amazon so they do, do long delivery's,

Think it also depends on where it's been sent from and so on.

They did that to me a month ago. Standard delivery had a delivery estimate of a week, free was 2+ weeks. I chose free delivery and they ending up dispatching the goods after two days.

Been shipped by Asendia by any chance? 2 week delivery window with them

I just contacted Amazon by chat, and they've expedited the order so it arrives on the 14th October instead!

Also credited me £3 as one of the items I ordered had dropped in price.

    All is forgiven :)

I've had two week estimates on the last three orders I've made, all sent by Asendia. The first order never showed up and I got refunded, the 2nd came after two weeks, and the 3rd still hasn't arrived even though the estimate has past.

This is really poor service. Amazon used to take a few days to get packages, now I either don't get my package or it takes weeks to arrive.

The 3 week wait for a refund is also annoying.

The sooner they get rid of Asendia as a carrier the better.

Interesting enough I had a coversation with a local business owner the other day. She mentioned that she is getting a increase in customers who have returned to buying in shops rather than amazon purely because of the long deliever times.

2 weeks for standard delivery is a bit ridiculous alright. The arrangement they've had with anpost always have worked really well and it's a shame that they are changing things up now :(

Be sure to forward on all complaints here:

Posting here won't really do anything to help unfortunately.

The reason for posting here was just to gauge if this is happening to others, or if they just don't like me because I keep selecting Free delivery.

Seems it's becoming more common, and the fact they can easily cut delivery time by 50% after I went onto Chat and asked them seems to me that it's becoming a policy to "take your time packing the delivery" when the "Free delivery" option is selected, not necessarily because items were out of stock, etc.

If it continues then perhaps I might raise the issue at the Feedback level.

Incidentally my order arrived yesterday (original estimate was 28th October)

I've been waiting for about 2 weeks now for an order of a computer Tablet. Current update on the i-Parcel website is that the Tablet is in the Customs Clearing Agency.
It was supposed to arrive 3 days ago. For about a week and a half after it had been handed over to i-Parcel the only update I had was "Your shipment has been flagged for review of the contents prior to export".
This is very annoying, don't think I'll be ordering any electronics off amazon again.

I ordered 2 ink cartridges on the 3rd October. I got a notification on the 4th that they had been dispatched- I thought great .....

I had an Iparcel tracking number which gave me the "Your shipment has been flagged for review of the contents prior to export" message.
It was due for delivery on the 11th-- no show
Contacted i-parcel who say they never got the package.

    Contacted Amazon who tell me:
"Due to the volume of orders we provide, there are rare occasions where a carrier receives an order that was not originally assigned to them. We still expect your order to arrive via a non-trackable service."
So they basically are not sure how they sent it out and I have to wait until the 20th to see if it arrives
