    Hi all,
We are going to do a makeover of our hallway before Christmas, starting with a new front door this week! The inside of which will be white.
We inherited the decor, so we would like to put something a little different on it. While I love looking at houzz etc , i find it a bit depressing as our budget is not massive (about 1500 incl walls and floor), and a lot of images are not of the hall of a 3 bed semi!

I would like to go a bit brighter on the walls. But I am trying to find a nice wallpaper for the main wall up the stairs.
we will have to stick with wallpaper as the walls underneath aren't in great nick. We are changing carpet and changing the floor to either tile or oak flooring (oak is in sitting room off the hall and cream tile in kitchen (not going with cream tile)
The woodwork will be kept white and we will keep our white n glass console table.
What is the best quality wallpaper to get for such a space.I got wallpaper in Homebase before, while not cheap its not the best quality either, and wouldn't stand up to any bumps etc on stairs.

So basically, I am looking for suggestions of wallpaper for main stair wall (statement paper perhaps) and the wall on corridor..I like the grey on the stairs as it is so easy to keep clean..but open to changing colour.
Its a North-West facing hall, but has good light coming in door due to big glass panels and I have a big mirror.

Any help at all would be amazing...I really am useless at putting colours/wallpapers etc together (one look at the bedroom i spent a lot of moola doing would tell ya)

I love looking at the expensive houses on Daft/Myhome which were obviously 'interior designed' professionally, great for getting ideas.

I'm hopeless with colours too so can't help I'm afraid.

I would go with the wooden floor option if it was me rather than a different colour / size tile if the kitchen is accessed from the hall.

My parents have a different tile in their hallway then that in the kitchen which leads off directly and it is quite jarring, as the kitchen door is always open.

Colour wise I would go for a light grey with a warm undertone and a complementary wallpaper on your feature wall.

Laura Ashley have a sale on at the moment with 50% wallpaper range and a further 10% off the sales price. I have not used this wallpaper but my MIL has and she raved about its quality. You could also get advice on colours whilst in store too.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Have been trying to create a moodboard but its so hard to whittle down a style..
Our sitting room has two shades of grey-one slate colour and the pther a silver/grey colour...the kitchen/diner is warm sands..Th sitting room is close to front of house entrance and has wooden oak floor..it is there a few years now so i understand it would be hard to match up.Laminate is a great option..

I am leaning more towards the wooden panels now on bottom walls, but I am worrying that it would cost too much, i guess i just need to price it with a few..would I look for a regular carpenter?

I have been looking at some Laura Ashley wallpapers in Dove grey, http://www.lauraashley.com/uk/decorating/wallpaper/icat/hfwallpapers#esp_cf=pdxtcolgroupft&esp_filter_pdxtcolgroupft=Grey

We have inherited the decor but I like it, kitchen has a country feel to it-shaker style and then sitting room is more modern with grey tones, black/grey/silver furniture.
I like something in between modern/traditional..I'm definitely not a minimalist type of person..
I just want hall to be warm and inviting, but brighter in colour than it is now..
I am away for the week, but can try put up more pics next week.

There's a crowd on Facebook called "wall panelling direct", who do those wall panels. I think they're based in Tipp, but do travel all over. I haven't had them done, but I follow them on Facebook, and their photos look fab. I would just love to get them in.... Hopefully some day!

Try Dave at Focal Designs. Done my sisters hall absolutely stunning.!!!!
These were completely hand made and not the moulded sheets that you see on six panel doors only took two days from start to finish
    Highly recommend him. .
