Polish is what you need to restore the original colour, depth and gloss back to the paintwork. Any polish will do the job!

There is no such thing as colour specific polish - any polish will restore the paintwork.
There are products that claim to be colour specific, but these products have additives in them to help enhance the appearance of the paintwork when you have just completed the job, but in reality will eventually wash off.

Just be sure to protect the car with a wax or sealant after you've polished, to help prolong the finish you achieve. If you dont, the faded paint will return sooner.

Is the paintwork on an older Opel or Toyota by any chance?

tbh its a vacuum tanker on a farm yard but I felt it was best to ask in the car section as they might know best how to restore paintwork on cars which may transfer across to my tank.
Would autoglym super resin polish work alright so as that's what I have hear. Will be giving it a spray of oil afterwards as I put it into the shed for the winter to keep the rust off.

Yeah, Super Resin Polish should do the job of restoring the colour.
