Meteor cannot unlock Xperia Z3

Basically, have had a Xperia Z3 since launch, new contract on Meteor. They've supplied network unlock code 3 times, yet non of the codes work. Visiting a Meteor store, and they said that the phone would have to be sent away to be unlocked, and that it would take 2 weeks. I've had less hassle unlocking iPhones. :(
