Water Conservation grant for estate of deceased

    Hi:

I am executor of my late father's estate. I have read in the FAQ that the conservation grant would be payable to the deceased person's estate.

I have successfully used my own PPS number to claim the grant for my own residence, but when I use my late father' PPS number it is rejected as invalid. I have his P60 and grant letter.

The Conservation grant section said to raise the issue with Social Protection. They (Social Protection) said it was "probably" being rejected as the PPS is flagged as deceased on their records.

Could I get a definitive answer on this one? Neither Irish Water nor the Deartment of Social Protection have been able to resolve this.

    Thanks.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

    Thank you for your patience.

Irish Water would not accept a PPSN as this would be under the remit of the Department of Social Protection.

In order to be eligible to receive your late father's grant, his application would have needed to be successful with the Department of Social Protection. If the application was successfully processed the payment would be due to you.

    Kind regards,
    Niall

    Hi Niall.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite following though. I have my own PPS number (also under the remit of the DSP), and I have a notification of eligibility for the grant.

I have the same two items (valid PPS and notification) in the name of the deceased. In my case the watergrants website accepts my application. In my father's case it does not. I'm at a loss to understand why one is accepted and one isn't.  I have paid both of his water bills on his behalf.

    Regards,
    Dave

Just to vent my frustration here, my late dad never got the grant to which his estate was entitled. Total non communication between two state organisations to which all due bills have been paid.

Not happy at all with the (non-) outcome of this.

    Dave
