My client is converting his existing ( non residential ) premises into a hostel.
Space is tight but does it require an accessible bedroom ( ie an accessible wc/shower room )

    Thanks

    yes

    works in connection with material
    alterations of existing buildings.
    Building Regulations (Part M
    Amendment) Regulations 2010 (S.I.
No. 513 of 2010), extends the
    definition of material alteration to
include Part M. As a result, the
    Building Regulations apply to any
    alterations subject to the
requirements of Part A, B or M. The
incorporation of Part M means that
    alterations to features relevant to
    compliance with Part M e.g.
    entrances, sanitary facilities, etc,
must comply with M1. The building
as a whole, including the approach
from the site boundary and from onsite
    car parking where provided,
must be no less compliant with M1
following a material alteration of a
    building.
