    Hi all

My sister wants to go to Newcastle for her hen. As her MOH I am obviously in charge but not sure where to start as I've only been to one hen party before- and it was local! Does anyone have any experience of hens in Newcastle? And on a more generic note, how I am supposed to book flights for 15 people from Dublin!?

I had my hen in the UK and we had a facebook group set up where I posted what date and times we had picked for flights then left it up to everyone to book their own.

Worked out perfectly, one or two friends had to get separate flights due to work but the majority of us were all on the same flights and each booked individually.

If you do set up a facebook event and pick out flight times, put the fear into the guests to book quick or they prices will increase/book out. They should get to it quick enough then.

As for what to do, I've never been to Newcastle so can't help you on that front I'm afraid!

What is your sister into? Things like spa days and getting pampered or something physical like paintballing? Is she a foody or big into drink?
Look for activities in the area that reflect her interests!

My lovely two bridesmaids are planning my hen and its also abroad. They basically emailed people with the dates of the hen and screenshots of the available flight times and let people book their own flights. I'd be wary of booking that many flights for people, not only because of the hassle but you may also end up out of pocket yourself. Best of luck with the organization :-)

Newcastle is meant to be great. My other half went on a stag party there few years back. Not sure of activities to do etc.

One thing is, the sterling is so bad you are going to lose out a lot in that way. I would have loved to go over there to UK for my hen but i couldnt justify the loss with the sterling rate.

Thanks guys! That's a relief to hear the booking can be left to them! Good point andreac, but half the party will be coming from Scotland so it won't be too bad. Hope it settles down soon though!

I don't think she wants to do any activities as such, just drinking and dancing, but minus the willy straws and stuff :pac:

Ah sure that's grand then. Yeah hopefully it will come back up again. Such a waste of money changing it over.

Getting into newcastle from the airport is easy theres a train that will leave you outside the main station where the trains from scotland come through. easy city to walk around and the normal high street shops. Theres a china town not far away which is good for cheap food. it can be a busy city on match day and the stadium is not far from the city centre so be very busy and lots of police. they tend to go out earlier there aswell so by 8ish half of them are well tanked up and there is a strong police presence at night there. If your sister wants drinking newcastles the spot but can be messy. 2 areas to go for night out are haymarket or the quays

Thanks neris that's really helpful! I should check for matches the weeks she wants to go! And great to know we can meet in one place- might be able to do something nice when we get together!

newcastle is great for a hen. we did a cocktail class one of the days which was amazing!! it was so gud we have gone bak to newcastle each yr as a group for that alone! the bar was called madame koos and u can book through their webpage. they basically let u do what u want with regards the cocktails and the barmen and topless waiters are great fun! madame koos is attached to two other bars one being house of smith (often seen on geordie shore but dont let this put you off its a really nice bar). we went to a drag show on the second nite but this was a bit of a blur to be honest!! one thing to note is that most of the bars in newcastle dont allow fancy dress so i wouldnt go overboard with costumes etc. there are lots of reasonably priced hotels in newcastle aswell.
