Simple enough rules, ask a question you've always wondered but never bothered looking for the answer.

Mine would be, do Ostriches really bury their heads in the sand?

No because they would die of suffocation.... Also lemmings do not jump off cliffs that was from a Disney movie and they basically pushed them off.

I've always wanted to look up this question but I can't phrase it right.

The colour black absorbs heat better than anything, right? So why are the inhabitants of very hot countries black while the inhabitants of very cold countries (Ireland) are white? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Neither. Gravity thinks you're part of the whole.

I can phrase it for you. Google 'melanin'.

    No charge.

Edit: You do of course realise that black people aren't 'black' as such?!? And that 'white' people are more kinda 'pinkish'?

I think it is to do with melanin- the pigment which gives skin colour. Melanin is present in pale skin also, but black skin has much more melanin producing a darker skin colour and this melanin also gives protection from the sun, so the more melanin present/darker the skin colour the less likely to be burned or harmed by strong sunlight. (I think)

You also reminded me something I read before about that thing where everybody says that you should wear white or pale colours to stay cool in strong sunlight and black clothing will make you overheat. I read somewhere that this was not completely correct. Something about that wearing white clothes would reflect your own body heat back onto you keeping you warm, and that loose black clothing would actually keep you cooler. Not sure how true this is?

My question that I should probably just Google:

Why do we humans produce tears and cry when emotional? :)
