    Hi guys ...
Started driving lessons in July did the 12 within a few weeks and got a car the start of September. I applied for my test straight after the lessons, and my test is now next week in tallaght!!
I just don't think I'm ready for it, too late to cancel now though. I did a pretest yesterday and he said I have a bit to work on ( positioning, using clutch too much, looking down at gearstick when changing gears, need to be faster taking off at traffic lights). I'm just totally so nervous for this, it could go either way .
I haven't really done much driving in tallaght only in my lessons etc. So I don't really know the test routes really if anyone knows the layout of the routes?!
I went out driving today with a family member and I drove the worst I ever have because I'm totally so afraid for next week.
    Any help appreciated ...

    Thanks

It's to your credit that you're taking it so seriously. Your plan is ambitious and inherently there is risk but realistically there are but two possibilities; you pass or you fail. If you pass, great. If you fail, you take stock and move forward.

The most important thing is to chill so you can focus on learning. Take the feedback on board and try to move forward implementing as much as you can as often as you can remember. The best thing to do is create exercises to help you on your weaker areas but don't hone in on them to the extent where you neglect other aspects. Specific things like smooth shifting come with experience and expecting perfection every time is unrealistic- just do it as much as possible.

Treat it like study- make time for practice, take breaks and don't freak out when things aren't coming together- it's a process, just keep moving along the process and hopefully you'll cover enough ground to get you through.

IMO, don't freak out about the routes. It's advantageous to have an idea of the lie of the land out there but you will be instructed turn by turn and if you're adept enough at the trickier exercises then not having performed your turnabout in that exact place won't be difference between passing or not.

I previously linked to alleged videos of the routes in this thread, other map options also discussed:

Try to take the pressure off yourself, view it as a test run where you find out what the test experience is all about so that there'll be no surprises next time...if you somehow manage to pass it's a bonus!

Thanks guys for your comments. I think your both right I need to stop freaking out as its making me a bad driver as I'm overthinking everything at the moment.
I'm gonna just go for it and give it my best, and if I pass I'll be over the moon but if not I'm gonna just keep going for it!!
