    Hi all,

I have been interested for several years now in working in the state forensic lab. Unfortunately when the last recruitment drive was on in the past year I had literally just had a baby so I didn't apply.

I have a first class hons degree in biomedical science, graduated last year, and I am wondering how to make my application more favourable for when they are recruiting again! A masters is not really an option right now due to having a young baby so I am looking for work in mainly industry QC roles or research assistant lab roles. Originally I had planned on going to strathclyde to do a masters there.

Should I be brushing up my chemistry in an evening course?
Would it be worth doing a small course on report writing, as I know this is an element of the work they do?

    all input welcome :) cheers

If they're near you try and pull a string to get a bit of work experience, even if unpaid, with them. If you're any use they should try and keep you next time a vacancy arises. If you've no experience you'll struggle in a competition.
