Moving WhatsApp chats from old phone to new phone

    I tried to do this last night but failed. From the articles I read and YouTube videos I saw it seemed very simple but that ended up not being the case because I tried 3 times and by then WhatsApp wouldn't allow me to try again for 24 hours due to their verification process.


    What I did was connect both phones to the laptop and tried copying the WhatsApp folder directly over, basically. This partially worked because the photos etc. appeared on the new phone but the chats etc. themselves didn't. For some reason there was an 'error' that popped up during some of the files copying over and I'm sure these caused it to not work as simple as it should have.


    So I think I'll try 7zipping the WhatsApp folder on the original phone then uploading that 7zip file to Google Drive and then download it onto the new phone and unzip it and then install WhatsApp and try again.

    But I want to make sure I've no missing steps in the full process, basically, because I don't want to have to wait another 24 hours again or even worse longer. Could someone here really good at this basically walk through it...
