    Hello

I got a percolation test carried out last weekend by an assessor. He was very happy with the test - great drainage, can put in a septic tanks.

How long do I have to wait to infill the holes?
Or can I just refill them?

Ring the guy who did the test. Once he's done his report - get them filled straight away before some kid falls into one of them and the parents sue you!

Some LA's require them left open for inspection by their planning officer during site inspection.

Sure, it'll be like a swimming pool by the end of the week...

Anyway, I'm not sure what Westmeath Council do

I just had a guy out today testing holes and I asked the same question, as I was concerned with two small kids nearby, but he said to leave them open as council may want to look if they come out to site. He said we could fill them in if we like, but be prepared to dig up again if council ask.

Cover them for safety and put a fence around them?

I filled mine back in straight away. I wouldn't leave them open on the off chance the council may want to look at them. I think it's unreasonable of the council to expect you to leave open holes there ''just in case''

Council may request further information to open them alright. Perhaps take pics including site notice just prior to submitting application or similar to prove it's your trial hole on your site taken at a particular time.
