    Hi,

Debating the pros and cons of each of the above. Spec seems higher in the A5, both have the same 170bhp diesel engine.

Does anyone have any insight of the driving experience of each?

How does the DSG box pair with the diesel engine? Can't help but think it would be better suited to petrol?

Any other points to note regarding either car?

    Cheers

There really isn't much of a comparison between them to be honest.

It depends what you're looking for but the VRS is noisier, bumpier and feels a little cheaper. Personally I could never get comfortable in an A5 but they feel a hell of a lot more premium compared to the Octavia. If you can find the black edition A5 its a really well specced car and the Octavia can't compete with it.

The Octavia feels livlier though and you're not seated slightly crooked in it like you are in an A5. My experience with an Octavia of that vintage is they don't wear miles as well as you'd expect either.

The A5 uses the older multitronic CVT box not DSG. Other than that they are like night and day in comparison.
