Saorview instead of UPC

My contract with UPC is over now so I'm looking at my options. I only ever watch the Irish channels & BBC so Saorview would be suitable, if I can get it.

I have a Saorview box from my previous place, can I plug that in to the cable connection that the UPC box uses? I'm in an apartment so can't put up satellite dishes or anything like that, as far as I remember it's just the cable connection.

Saorview doesn't get BBC. The cable coming in from UPC will not pick up channels for Saorview, you could try with an internal aeriel.

Cheers. Forgot about using an internal aerial. I don't watch BBC that much so could live without that.

If you can't put up an external dish or aerial, one option is via the internet as in RTE Player and using a VPN BBC iplayer, ITV player and 4OD.

Most of us now watch recorded TV and very little live apart from sports and news. If you have a good broadband service and a smart TV or android box, you can watch all the 'terrestrial' TV you want.

I think 4OD and ITV player are 'free' but you do need a VPN to use the BBC iplayer.
