This is opening in Cinemas shortly, October 16th is given as the opening date,so is anyone going to see it?
Must say i'm well and truly "Armstronged"out at this stage and most of us know the facts but it might be interesting to see hollywoods take on it.

It's definitely worth going to see it IMHO - had a chance to see a pre-release showing (charity event) on Friday, I really enjoyed it. Thought yer man Ben Foster (who plays Lance Armstrong) was very good, had all the facial expressions, body language etc down to a T.

Saw it last Thursday at a charity event also.

Its not very "hollywoodised" I think.

It skips over a lot of detail, If you don't know the ins and outs of the story then you would be pretty lost. But well worth a look.

Saw it on an airplane. It's so bad and annoying I nearly walked out.

Watched it out of boredom one day, Chris O'Dowd is brilliant in it, that all that stuck in my head.
Don't think its aimed at people who know the story and somewhat glorifies LA

David Walsh probably would have been a better choice to play himself than Chris O'Dowd. Christ, he was painful to watch.

I think it was too much to cover in one movie.
A Netflix or hbo show would be better.

The Armstrong lie doc is the best. Nothing shows off the sheer arrogance of the man like that

This movie is a bit of a turd. The documentary on lance is better. I think it was the one from Netflix. Loads of facts are skipped over in this movie

Decent watch. But far from essential viewing. As mentioned before it could have been FAR better

Ah for the cycling fan who knows the story inside and out it's a mess of a movie. My wife, who knows nothing really about the story watched it one night. She wanted to know what on earth I'd been going on about for the past few years. She thought it was really good and said it gave her a bit of a better understanding on what happened.

Now there are years of material to cover and a single movie couldn't possibly cover it all. This wasn't aimed at cycling fans, this was aimed at others who just knew who LA was. So I guess it's all about context and where you are coming from. Incidentally she loved Chris O'Dowd in it. But she loves him anyway. He's on her "list" :)

I never said it was a documentary. If you read my post you will see that I said "THE DOCUMENTRY ON NETFLIX IS BETTER" and I also said the movie is a turd.

Hope that clears up my post for you.

You said they skipped facts in the movie. Movies take liberties with the truth in order to appeal to the widest audience.

The movie was really disappointing. While there was an uncanny resemblance to LA, the actor never could capture the menacing stare or his rage when he was attacking. Armstrong has shark eyes; cold and empty.
But what was really disappointing was it did not capture the suffering of pro-cycling. Instead it looked as the peloton was on a Sunday spin. Particularly when they went to the bother of getting all the detail right in terms of bikes, uniforms, advertising ect.
