Seen this last night in the IMAX and thought it was excellent.

Haven't seen Man on a Wire and know nothing at all about Philippe Petit (will watch it now for sure though) so seen it blind as it were, but on the face of it I thought was an excellent story well told. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I had seen Man on Wire and in comparison this came across as rather soulless and perfunctory. The core sequence is breath-taking (well worth the 3D IMAX actually). However, I found the narration device irritating and the attempted love story felt tacked on.

This had an A List director in Robert Zemeckis and a pretty big actor as the lead. Why the limited release and hype?

Beats me. I saw it at 6 o'clock in the biggest screen of my local multiplex and I was the only person there.

Because apart from the final act it’s not very good and has a totally insufferable main character.

Apart from the visually absolutely stunning centrepiece of the film this was an absolute turkey.

The documentary is a much better piece of work. I found this very disappointing.

watched it lasted last night on blu ray and thought it was excellent...my hands went sweaty watching the twin towers walk

surprised it didn't get any awards for visual effects
