Is my rear wheel defective?

Looking for a bit of advice please? I bought some new Shimano RS81 C24 carbon laminate wheels earlier this year. I've noticed if I spin the back wheel while holding onto the frame or the saddle the whole bike vibrates noticeably up & down. I took the bike to my LBS & they suggested that part of the rim was heavier than the rest & this was causing the vibrating. The wheel is true & the vibrating happens with the tyre/tube off & on.

Another bike mechanic I spoke to said this was normal & most wheels when spun up would cause the frame to vibrate. I've tried a couple of other bikes but they don't seem to vibrate in the same way (if at all).

Is my wheel defective & should this be covered under a manufacturers' guarantee?

    Any information appreciated.

It happens with the zonda wheels on my winter bike but not the zonda wheels on my good bike. I don't feel It on the road so it doesn't bother me. The wheel is dead true and round.

I always thought that was from the valve being heavier?

He said it happens with or without the tyres/tubes fitted.

Its normal.I once balanced a 50mm aero carbon rim just for laughs. It took 10g of weight opposite the valve.

Thanks for all the advice folks.

I'll get on with riding the bike & stop worrying about how the wheels behave when I'm not on it!

When it has no tube or tyre then it's the opposite?

Isn't that why some Mavic wheels have a heavy spoke opposite the valve?
