The biggest question I have is the large Tyre size, is this just a fad (like stupid fixie hipster bicycles) or is it useful for a beginner?

The Loki can be converted to 29ers and slimmer Tyres (orbea propaganda info) but as I'll be needing a small frame most 29ers are out for me anyway?

Any thoughts on this bike?
Or is the Alma 50 a better more conventional buy?
