    Hi all

Am just wondering, Ive got a job and will be starting on the 16th October when the place opens, we have to do training etc but it wont be paid plus I will be doing a back month so wont actually recieve any payment from them till the 23rd November.

I have given them my bank details , PPS etc as they asked for with everyone elses, but Im just wondering will I still be able to get my Dole payment for the next 2weeks say while Im doing training before I start officially working on the 16th?

Unfortunately not, because you're unavailable for work since you'll be training, and availability for work is a necessity with the dole.

Thanks there, was just wondering as had heard that once theres no payment going through to you (via tax system etc or however they trace it) then your only getting one payment which would be the dole, then once the job/course or whatever start paying you then youd be automatically knocked off the Dole since you are seen as having another payment come in via job/course what have you?!

You could try your local cwo for an exceptional needs payment If your really stuck ,or a visit to the local st Vincents maybe an option too

Why are they not paying you for training?. That's very odd.
    What sector is it in?

Well its only a few days training and all in the evenings, we wont actually be serving anyone etc yet, just seeing how everything works/goes etc, thats why I thought it would be okay to receive dole during this time as it is only about 3days for next week and week after and all in the evening, so its out of usual work hours?

If it's three days each week, you could possibly claim casual jobseekers for those few weeks. You wouldn't be entitled to full dole because although it's outside normal 9-5 hours, you're not available for full time work because you're doing three days.
