Thinking of buying a house near a stop for 150/54b bus in templogue. I looked up the timetables but I never trust them- it takes me a lot longer to get to work than the timetable says. Would I be looking at a long commute? I'd be getting off around Christchurch.

The Dublin Bus timetable only shows departure times - there are off-peak travel time estimates at the base of the timetable which are purely that - estimates.

For realistic journey times use the national journey planner at www.a-b.ie or indeed the National Journey Planner app for smartphones.

The 150 is one of the more reliable routes and takes about 45 to 50 minutes from Rossmore to the city centre in the morning. The odd time it's a little longer; one I was on last week took an hour and 25 minutes but it was an exceptionally slow day with a trainee driver at the wheel.

The main bottlenecks that hold it back are the Ashleaf, Kildare Road, Sally's Bridge/Donore Avenue and Dean Street; some days all of these are clear. Off peak you are looking at about 30 minutes of a trip.
