My pump has stopped working completely & a friend looked at it who reckons it needs to be replaced. Just wondering if anybody knows off hand anywhere in Cork that specialises in these pumps. I'd like to get a professional out to have a look at it in case it can be repaired before I start pricing new ones!

Alternatively, are reconditioned pumps any good or best avoided?

    TIA

A lot of the Stuart Turner pumps are quite repairable, especially the brass bodied pumps.
Do you know which model you have and can you describe the problem you are having, a pic would be useful if you cannot find the model no.

When considering a recon pump over a new pump, you need to take into consideration the warranty over the savings.
As an example, a reconditioned brass bodied negative head pump may cost you just under half the price of a new one, whereas the warranty on a new brass bodied pump is five years.

Thank you very much for the reply. Its the M550N & its about 7.5 years old. It wasn't used a massive amount as it supplies a spare room en suite but would have been used regularly for maybe a year of its life. It was always a noisy yoke but it doesn't kick in at all now & my friend thought there was a bit of smoke coming from it when he tried it so he plugged it out!

Not sure if I've uploaded the photos properly but theres a lot of brass on the right hand side of it.

I'd obviously prefer if it could be repaired but will replace it if needs be as I couldn't sell the house without it being fixed. I'd have a guilty conscience! It just seems to be difficult to find a specialist in Cork to have a look at it.

    Thanks again.

If you cant get it fixed or want a new one, I recommend Grundfos pumps.

Managed to get it fixed in 5 minutes for €65! It was only the capacitor that needed to be replaced so we were lucky to find a man who knew his pumps. Thanks for the help everyone! :)
