So I am considering, probably completely bonkers considering it, getting a new phone. I've an S5 at the moment, the battery life isn't the best and it has some software glitches ever now and again.

As of Friday, nobody can hear me when I make or receive calls so I will need to send it away for repairs. The phone is a year old in January. I'm driven mad by the frequent warnings about the battery cover being loose and now the cover for the charger port has finally snapped off (it kept opening!). I've noticed in the Samsungs the outer silver edges wear away.

I'll send it on for repair but I am without a decent phone for the long period of time it takes. Replacement phones are awful and it's essential for work I need a smartphone.

If I was to buy a new phone, any suggestions? S6? Nexus maybe?

Massive difference between the two, if you're a heavy user. :)

I do enjoy the Samsung products but the slowness in getting updates is frustrating.

Battery life for the s6 seems to be much worse in general but you have the upside of quick charging and the best camera currently available on a phone. If you can live with the no SD card slot then I say go for it. Just be aware that the s7 is meant to be out early next year. Some great prices up on amazon though

S6 Edge, go for the plus if you like a bigger phone. The best phone on the market by far.. No point in looking at the nexus, it's far too highly priced for what you get. Saying that, the s6 edge plus is not a cheap phone, especially in the 64GB version

Depends which Nexus he wants, you can get the Nexus 6 for under €400 now and for that price its a great phone running stock Android i had one and didnt suffer any lag and it had decent battery life, but if you're just looking for a phone with excellent battery then i would recommend the Sony Xperia Z3 you can get up to 48 hours from a single charge, ive a Galaxy S6 at the moment and to be honest its doing my head in with the constant lag and thouchwiz is unbearable i definitely wouldn't recommend it,im getting an Xpeira Z5 tomorrow if thats in your price range have a look at it too.

When you say lag with touchwiz what are you referring to? I had an s3 years ago and it drove me mental constantly redrawing the homescreen, I'm looking at an s6 myself at the moment but if its like that I'll reconsider. I've read several reviews and a few 3 months on pieces and don't see much mention of any serious lag? Where are you getting the Z5 from? If its a reasonable price I might consider it myself.

It'll probably be nearly May by the time it reaches us though. I know there's talk about an early release but just will take sometime before we get it I think.

Hoping for this myself as I'm massively tempted to get the flat s6 in 64gb. 32gb is too small for myself and the edge plus price is insanity. I'm holding out for the note 5 but i feel as if it could be January before its out.

Priced up the s6 64gb from Amazon.de for €600. Plus a new quick charger, wireless charger and 2 otter box cases all for less than the price of the edge plus :P

Any ways went off topic there. It all depends on your price range but right now the best phone to go with for a mix of premium and price is definitely the s6 or the G4 which is an absolute bargain at the minute online.

Sorry to hijack... Any links to a G4? Very curious now... Is it dual sim?

By lag i mean home page scrolling is slow and multitasking all very slow,i bought the Z5 from Vodafone i think they are the only carrier selling it here at the moment.

Not too concerned with Multi-tasking as i've read its bad but no worse than what I get out of my G3 or iPad Air 2 so should be ok. I'm not a massive multi-tasker anyway. Home page scrolling is a worry though, something like that would grate. I'm torn between the G4 and S6, as much as I loved the G3 the build quality is awful. The plastic scratches so easily that I'm put off the G4 and the leather backs haven't sold me either. Going from M7 to iPhone 5s to G3 was a bit of a change but the G3 camera made it ok. Honestly don't think I could go back to another plastic phone now. The Z5 is nice but seems overpriced to me, €650 or do you reckon its worth it? Doesn't seem to be to me.

I got a S6 as an upgrade on 3 but I am finding the signal strength worse than my S4. I use data on the move a lot and am finding I am getting H/H+ on the S6 in comparison to the S4, where I am getting 4G.. makes no sense to me.

I am considering sending the phone back now and sticking with the S4 and buying a memory card for the photos.
