So Whats The Catch With This House For 30k

    Whats stopping me making an offer for 25k and renting in out to some tourists on airbnb for a few hundred a month?

    The same thing that's stopping you buying a €300,000 house and renting it out for a couple of thousand a month I'd imagine.

    There aren't that many tourists around Letterkenny in the winter.

    Have you seem the kip? The countryside is littered with old cottages like this and they sell (if they sell at all) for 25k to 30k. You'd have to pay guests to stay there.

    Its not 30 you could get it for 25k that what I pay in last year. Its a tiny amount for a house.

    Many of these "kips" are doing 50 a day on airbnb because of American tourists wanting to visit rural Ireland

    Why not live in it then, instead of struggling to meet the rent elsewhere?

    It needs about 50k in work done to it and it would still be a kip.

    50k is a massive over estimate. It needs renovation not a rebuild. I am a sparky who built houses in the past so I could do most work myself anyway.
