Was fuel and air filter changed recently start there anyone before spending big money. A bad fuel filter can cause sort of issues cutting out being one of them.

Feed pipe to fuel filter would be a start point, look for kinks.

Fuel filter housings crack on these and will give you the problem youre experiencing.
Also your egr valve could be stuck.

We sell loads of both of these.

I pretty sure it not fuel filter housing but I think it might be egr value

    Easily checked.
The fuel filter leaks from the top of it.Quite obvious crack in it.

Give the egr valve a tap with a rubber mallet.Sometime it frees them out and then you`ll know its sticking.
If it is then replace it.Or take it off and clean it with a good carb cleaner. You can sometimes keep them going for a while longer with a good cleaning.

Just going to try carb cleaner first hope that's it at least I know it's that if it works :-D

Theres no point in throwing parts at it without diagnostics, fuel starvation, low lift pump pressure etc. will throw up a code something like p0191 etc. If you monitor the requested vs actual rail pressure you'll see that kind of problem right away. Stalling could be cam crank synchronisation, high pressure regulator, rail sensor, cam sensor, crank sensor, dodgy wiring etc. An elm327 adapter from ebay / adverts and alfaobd or multiecuscan demo will allow you to monitor those for less than a tenner.

Scudo is doing my head in got van engine loom changed because I seen a lot of brake is wire before this van there was puffs of black smoke so I put it down to this I had fuel filter changed and oil filter changed van is stailing out of no where when on open roads please any help

    Did you check for codes?
You can download multiecuscan for free to read codes...
If it's still stalling as per your original post I'd be looking at either the crank or cam sensor as they are common problem on that engine.

Get a cable and read the codes first though.
    Marty.

Blank the egr to rule that out... Blanks on eBay that won't cause damage for a few euro.

Have the cable just don't have software for where would I get it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭martyc5674

    http://www.multiecuscan.net

It will read codes and you can plot live data such as air flows requested v reported, boost pressure requested v actual to get an idea how things are working.

    Any fault codes?
Why do you think turbo is going?

I forget exact terminology but it's possible using ecuscan to compare desired versus actual boost pressure, that will tell you if your turbo is doing what it's told or not.

Do you think it would cause van to run bad on high rev and make the egr think it's bad?? :-(

I just got a turbo with 70.000 miles on it and a egr value to so hope when I get them done
It with sort all out fingers crossed

    Any fault codes?

Changing the turbo for the sake of it is ridiculous.
Same goes for egr or any part for that matter.
You can however blank the egr on that engine without any side effects to performance/reliability...it will also rule out your egr.
Blank it and leave it blanked.

    Marty.
