Hi all. Started running a while back and have it to a pretty ok stage I think. Where I'm running 20km a day. But I have hit a problem, and need some help. Friction on nipples and friction burns on inside of upper legs. I'm not over weight or anything like that. But this is becoming a real problem now and painful too !!! Help please ????

Easy fix is to put plasters on your nipples and wear lycra type undershorts...under your shorts. Well thats what works for me.

I believe some other runner plasters, and others use some kind of body glide. You should see it mention in the random running question thread, or if not there in the DCM novices thread.

Thanks I'll have a quick look there. Also I have tried the Lycra shorts not finding any help from them.

Are you using the same shorts when you run? Is there a seam thats chaffing you or is it friction from skin contact?

Lycra works for me, vaseline also works but I hate the feel.

It will be a bit of trial and error but i hope you get it sorted.

    Best of luck.

Been wearing the same shorts. Never had this issue before, but only increased my distance in the last two weeks and since then the pain in said areas has come.

I used to suffer bad with friction burn. Iv tried a lot of things in different situations. Various lubes, plasters (just the sticky part) and duct tape.

How about looser shorts on the longer runs? I suppose it all depends where the friction is and what exacty is causing it.

Anyway, im no help, im off to bed. Good luck :)

Cameos cream is what the cyclists use. Its for anti chafing. Plasters on the nipples cameos on the legs. Plus lycra shorts

Skin coloured kinesiology tape for the nipples, cut into small squares and put in a zip lock bag. You will have enough for 6 months and its much cheaper.

    Chamois cream; pronounced 'shammy'.

Cameo's cream is something very, VERY different....Word Up!

Bicycle short style Speedos work for me under what I'm already wearing. No problem since.

Aldi waterproof plasters are the most sweat resistant I've found. You get loads of square ones too.
And this stuff is great for the rest:

(and you can have much hilarity with the name)

Duct tape (cut squares for nipples) and body-glide, Vaseline can be a pain to wash out.

I ve suffered badly in the past with nipples and inner thighs. While various waterproof tapes can work well on the nipps, I found that i needed a really good seal on the skin or the sweat would eventually get behind and they'd fall off(DCM 12:eek:). Vaseline works well and is cheap but it did stain. For the past 18 months ive been using Ultimate Performance Skin Shield. Its a roll on gel/oil. You can get it in Elverys and runways i think. Got my last one on amazon. I rub it on the legs and lower back too as the skinz shorts can chaff a bit as they get older.

Get yourself some compression underwear and a compression sleeveless top, both prevent any unwanted rubbing of shorts/t-shirt.
I've had no issues since I went that route. Started with a compression T-shirt, but found it too warm at times, sleeveless top I find is better.

I find the compression tops work well, but on anything 1/2 marathon and above I supplement with vaseline / body glide.

Same goes for the shorts - if I don't add in some bodyglide *down there* for anything over 10k I will be crying in the shower when I get home.....

Do your shorts have an inner lining?

I had this problem when first running, the lining of the shorts would be constantly rubbing. At the time I just cut the lining out.

These days bike shorts/compression shorts under my running shorts is fine, something like https://www.insportline.eu/p6096/Lady's-compression-shorts-Newline-Sprinter-Compression.jpg
