Any (major) disadvantages to having Foxes in my garden?

I have at least two foxes in my garden every morning, I suspect they may have a den down there, perhaps near or in the composting grass clippings.

They are leaving a lot of poo in the grass which could potentially be a health hazard but other than that are there any major disadvantages to having them there?

What advantages would there be to having them there? We have rats in the area (rural farmland [not mine!] all around me), would they take care of the rat problem?

I really love seeing them every day but if they are likely to create a problem then I'd like to look at a way to discourage them from using the garden, without resorting to a rifle :D

Unless you keep hens you shouldn't have any issues. Raiding bins can be a problem but keep a weight on the lids. They will keep rodents down.

we used to have foxes in our garden (glasnevin or ballymun, depending on the age of the person you ask). haven't seen them in at least six months; pity, even though we do have chickens. not sure if the garden where they're resident cleared them out.

The bins are in the garage and that has proper solid doors so no danger there. I don't keep chickens. Looks like I'm clear so :) Cool! It's great seeing them padding across the lawn and stretching in the morning.
