Fixtures have been released; it starts next week and the LCU are hoping the division finale can be played alongside the other divisions on the last day of the leagues. There's 15 teams over two groups, with the top two from each group progressing to a play-off, so presumably the last day would only see the second play-off round, but still, great to see.

A nice mix of clubs in this one. I think it's -

    Ballinasloe
    Blanchardstown
    Bray/Greystones
    Curragh
    Dublin
    Gonzaga
    Gorey
    Kilkenny A
    Kilkenny B
    Malahide
    Naomh Barróg A
    Naomh Barróg B
    St Benildus
    Skerries A
    Skerries B

    Best of luck to all!

    Bray/Greystones 4-1 St Benildus

We only had three players, and of course no lower team to sub from. Bray are a strong team, so two draws were good results for us.

    Skerries A 4-1 St Benildus

Didn't see how the Skerries B v Rathmines game ended up, but it was heading towards a 5-0 for Rathmines I think.

Hi lads, what's the criteria for a board prize in division 7??

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,279 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Same as other divisions - 75% of the total games (not just what you played).

So 4½/6 in Group A and 5½/7 in Group B.

    I don't think the play-off games count.

So looking at the Curragh squad, James Murphy on 6/6 should get one, despite missing a round.

Thanks for that, I was unsure if the play off games were included.

    Semi final;
    Rathmines 2:3 Bray/Greystones

The final for this was due to be on Sunday, but Kilkenny scratched unfortunately. Not that it mattered; both they and Bray are promoted anyway.

The O'Sullivan is maybe considered to be a junior/beginners' league - but I think it was nice to see a young up-and-coming Bray side win, led by Vincent Denard (age 91 I think? I know his birthday was in the local paper last year) and relative whippersnapper Paddy McGarry. Kind of emphasises that chess is one of the few games that's genuinely for everyone from 9 to 90 (and then some!)
