    Hi

Does anyone know if all ford focus around 2013 hneed clutch pressed when turning ignition or is it just the higher specs. Have a 2013 focus edge, only few weeks old. Cant find manual. Sister has a zetec need clutch to start. Mine an edge doesn't.

Also was driving the last day and felt a sudden jerk from the engine and when pulled over it sounded like a cooling fan was running for a few minutes with engine off. Hasn't happened since.

    Has anyone any advice .

    Thanks
    Will

Point number 2 when you pulled over and turned off the engine and fan stayed running that's most likely you canceled a dpf regeneration. The exhaust gets really hot when regenerating so if you turn off the car during the process it runs the fans to cool it. What kind of driving are you doing. Once it's getting long trips regularly it will get plenty of opportunities to regenerate. Not sure whether the jerk is related I wouldn't worry unless it happens again.

As for clutch to start were you trying to start both in neutral. My car although not a focus will start in neutral without clutching but will not start in gear without clutching which is a good feature to have. Not sure about focuses.

Both are normal key ignition. Zetec def won't start without clutch . can't find full spec of focus edge anywhere.

It was after a 50km trip that what sounded like a cooling fan in engine came on for 3-4mins. The car gets mixed driving distances. The last car i bought was a lemon so its why im bit jumpy aftrr only 2weeks for these things to happen.

The focus edge will def start without the clutch depressed.

Thanks for the info ..much appreciated. Esp bout the dpf regeneration.

He you shouldn't have any problems with the dpf once the car gets a decent run ideally on the motorway every 2 weeks or so at least. As for the clutch you seem to be worried that it's some kind of an issue with the car it wouldn't really be or it's not going to have any effect on it either way.

Im hoping that after bad experience with last car im just paranoid with every single thing in car im not familar not before. Like when i turn off ignition im half imagining there is half an extra turnover before engine switches off.
Sorry now if sounding like a nutjob

I'm not quite sure what you mean there to be honest. At the end of the day no point in getting yourself worried. Make sure the car is serviced regularly by a good mevhaniv with correct oil and parts. Give it a few decent drives for the dpf and after that you can't do much more generally they won't go wrong if you mind them and sure if it does it does kind of out of your control once it's not down to lack of servicing.
