    Hi folks,

I've just bought a new car and the only real issue with the interior is mould on the cream cargo cover (#1 in the diagram below - car is an estate). Its pretty bad to be honest, the cover was stored in a damp shed so the rest of the interior is fine. I did a search and people use white vinegar to kill the mould but I'm not sure that I want to stink the car out. I was going to hit is with some APC first - any tips/experience.

APC, brush to agitate, damp microfiber to gently dab away and dry microfiber to dry area.

I believe you need a biological detergent to stop the mould coming back. Detailing World mention Autosmart Bio Brisk a few times ive noticed.

If it were me I'd give it a hit with some biological washing detergent and hot water first.

As suggested I'll kich off with some APC first I think and if that shouldn't shift it I just picked some of this up

    http://www.starbrite.com/item/mildew-stain-remover?category_id=558

Its a marine mould remover, never used it but I heard it works well. I'll tackle it over the weekend and report back. Doesn't say anything about prevention however so I will need to think about that.

    Thanks for the replies.

So I said I would provide an update. Here is the cargo cover as I got it:

I tried 10% IPA (Bilt Hamber Surfex HD) first with a brush, increased this to 20%. Took off the surface mould but left some mould 'in' the texture of the vinyl.

I then tried the Starbrite Mildew Remover. Direction was to spray on and rinse off, repeat as necessary and use a brush if required. Effect was instant with significant reduction of the mould on the first application but I needed to agitate it with a brush on the 2nd and 3rd applications to get the full impact. There remains some slight staining in a couple of areas but it is minor and most people would not see it.

Overall very impressed with the Starbrite stuff, I never thought I would get all the mould off. It did not seem to damage the vinyl but its a light colour, I do not know if this would be true for darker materials. It is not recommended for fabric incidently. I think its clorine based so you'll need gloves and maybe a mask.

Jesus that cover was in some state. Great job. In terms of it was a fabric / dark cover, there's always the option of spraying it to give it back its original look.
    Black?
