Alloys for 2005 A6

    Hey all,

So.. every time I go looking for tyres for my A6 (currently on 245/40/R18) it's a pain :( Finding any in that size first of all, and then finding anything that I've heard of.

I live in an apartment so ordering online and storing them until I need them isn't an option - just to get that out of the way :) - so I'm thinking about changing the alloys entirely for a 16/17" version, eg:

    http://www.adverts.ie/alloys-wheels/16-genuine-audi-s-line-alloys/8784554

    or

    http://www.adverts.ie/alloys-wheels/17-audi-alloy-wheels/8866885

... which I figure should be cheaper per tyre and hopefully give more of a selection.

    So...

    - Would say those alloys fit my own car?
    - Are those sizes more common as I'm thinking?
    - Or as a third option, Is there a better 18" size I could be going for on my own car? - bearing in mind she's a 3L Quattro as well.

Given I spend most of my time on motorways and the occasional crappy minor road, ride comfort is another factor. The 18s I find are pretty hard at times, so I don't mind dropping a size or two if it'd help in this regard as well.

    Any advice appreciated :)

Have you tried any Audi / VAG forums for information?
    eg: http://www.autostadt.ie/

Might have a better chance of getting the info you need.

    The 17's look nice....

Yes they will fit. Both are 5/112 so no problem there. I bought a set off a 2010 A6 12 months ago for a Skoda. Paid €150. They were perfect but the tyres were bollixed. Didn't bother me as I had tyres. 225/45/17 are much cheaper than anything 18
