    Hey guys,

Has anyone bought a DSLR or lense off Amazon? If so is it safe and are they good quality?

Can't really comment specifically on camera equipment, but in general on Amazon there's a distinction between stuff that Amazon itself sells ("Dispatched from and sold by Amazon."), things that are merely 'Fulfilled' by Amazon, and 3rd party sellers that sell through Amazon. Only in the first case are you totally covered by Amazon AFAIK, in all other cases you're just dealing with random 3rd party sellers, all of whom will have their own returns policy and reputation etc etc.

Have bought lenses from Amazon, directly from Amazon, and not the marketplace. All good.

Btw, if you're not aware of it, there's amazon.de (euro currency).

I've been using Amazon.co.uk since 2003. Fantastic service. Couple times i had to return item. No hassle. As long as you stick with "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon." you will be fine.

I did buy a 70 - 200 f2.8 Nikon through Amazon and it was fine. It was a few years ago now and back then they would not deliver items like that in Ireland. Had it sent to a relative in the UK instead. Was quite a bargain at the time due to the box being shop soiled.

I've bought a good bit of bits and piecs from Amazon, books mainly, and its been grand - but, I always think for a camera you are better to buy in local camera shop, you will pay more , but most will be helpful and sell you what you need , rather than what you think you need, and physically holding the camera is real important, one that you feal comfortable with , not too big etc - also, if something goes wrong , local shops I have used have been great , online its a nightmare, thats why I advice people to buy locally , plus you are supporting local economy

Have bought quite a bit off them I've only had one majour problem when I had some lenses stolen in transit which amazon replaced form me. You should also watch for warranty issues the last sigma lens I bought had a 1 year euro wide warranty and a 3 year warranty that was only valid if you registered it to a French address because it was bought of amazon.fr pay attention to that kind of thing.
