New gas boiler suggestions

My service engineer from Electric Ireland has recommended that my gas boiler be replaced. It is in situ about 6/7 years but apparently needs a ton of work to fixup and is inefficient (biasi) and unsafe (incorrectly wired so isn't emptying CO2 properly?) so am going to get it replaced. What are the good options on the market that I should look at and if anyone wants to quote me pm me please (Dublin 7) Is it worthwhile Going for the Better Energy Homes scheme grant?

I am not a gas technician, but I would strongly advise a second opinion.

Id second that opinion. I don't know of any wiring issue that would effect co2 in combustion

The jist of it was the wiring had bypassed a sort of exit cycle the boiler ran through that expels the Co2 built up when heating would be switched off. He was RGI and seemed to spot a fe wother things that made sense with this heating system (long story) including a pipe that should be going directly to a drain and not onto my kitchen roof as it is now.

I'd say he was talking about a permenant live supply to the boiler. A simple fix. The pipe is probably a condensate drain. Should be a simple fix too

yes, thats correct but it's damaged some seals and he reckoned the high hundreds to fix everything whereas if I got a new one in and got the grant it might be a better option long term. He wasn't touting for the work himself, he was a contractor for Electric Ireland.

Maybe he's trying to avoid fixing these simple issues. I'd get a second opinion. Boiler install eligible for grant payment is in the region of 4k

    Hi sweetie,

Our apologies for jumping in here; our Home Services team were just hoping to clarify a few details with you in relation to the call-out by the service engineer?

If you could provide further information by private message that would be great.

    Thanks,
    David
