Hi everyone, I'm looking for good quality old railway sleepers for my curbing for my new garden. Can anyone recommend a good supplier around Galway at a good price? I'm looking for about 40/50 in total. McMahons I believe have new ones. Any other suggestions.

I'm not in Galway but seem to remember a place in Athenry on the right hand side near the railway bridge heading away from the archway used to have loads of sleepers. Sorry I cannot help with a name etc. Somebody from Athenry might be on here and might be able to help.

AFAIK It's illegal to sell old railway sleepers.

Only the old creosote treated ones, plenty legit options on the market.

What else were the old ones treated with?

The old ones were soaked in creasote which are banned. The new ones on offer and 8" by 5" and 8' long white deal pressure treated.
